Milk Plus DHA Omega-3
 |
What is DHA? |
 |
Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) is an Omega-3 fatty acid. Although it is found in most tissues throughout the body, the highest concentrations of DHA are in the brain, nervous system and the retina of the eye. The more DHA is consumed in the diet, the more DHA is available for these tissues. |
 |
What is Horizon Organic's source for the DHA? |
 |
The DHA in Horizon Organic Milk Plus DHA Omega-3 is sourced from Martek and is called life'sDHATM. It is an algae-based vegetarian DHA, and is FDA-accepted. In addition, it's:
- An environmentally sustainable source
- Produced in an FDA-inspected plant, Kosher and Halal
- Not genetically-modified, no risk of ocean-borne pollutants
- The only source of DHA currently used in U.S. infant formula
- Removes the "middle fish", that is, it's sourced directly from microalgae, whereas other sources are separated from the oils of fish that get DHA by eating algaes
