| Some dairymen see manure as a liability, we see it as an asset," says Don Odegard of Watts Brothers Dairy. The dairy cows are relative newcomers to the farm, which started with organic vegetables in 1997. Today, the farm is devoted to the art and science of sustaining natural resources. Natural fertilizer from the large-scale dairy nourishes the vegetable crops and pastures; in turn, organic vegetable material supplements the cows' pasture diet in an uninterrupted cycle of sustainable organic prosperity.
