Happy
Organic Halloween! |
 |
Dear
Friend,
Halloween is almost here, and if you’ve got kids, that means you can
look forward to lots of fun and lots of candy. Of course you want
your kids to enjoy themselves, but that doesn’t mean the whole month
has to be a blur of sugar overload. In the weeks leading up to Halloween,
try to make healthy organic meals and snacks. After the candy deluge
on the 31st, it’s a good idea to let your kids have one day of indulgence,
and then taper it down to one piece a day for a while. Make sure that
snacks are still healthy — like organic apples, pumpkin seeds,
organic cheese, organic carrots and organic granola bars.
Check out our yummy, kid-pleasing recipes, including some Halloween-themed
ones, on HorizonOrganic.com.
And have a great Halloween!

It’s
apple season, so take advantage of the amazing varieties out
there. Apples are packed with phytonutrients and antioxidants…
and great flavor! But make sure you choose organic apples. Non-organic
apples are one of the most pesticide-contaminated fruits. Find
out more on Dr. Greene’s Organic Prescription. |

When
you’re carving your spooky jack o’lanterns, be sure to save the pumpkin
seeds. Rinse them, spread them on a baking sheet, toss them in oil,
add salt and bake them in a 250° oven for an hour. Kids love to
help make — and eat — them. |
