![]() ![]() This festive spread is especially pretty with brilliant red jalapeno jelly, but any type of sweet or savory jam works well. Serve crackers or celery sticks alongside. Yield: 10 servings Prep time: 10 minutes
Standing time: 1 hour
Difficulty Level: Easy
Hold the unopened tub of cream cheese upside down under hot running water for a moment, then open the tub and invert it, allowing the cheese to slip out in a single piece. Use dental floss to slice the cheese into four disks as follows: Set the whole cheese on a work surface and wrap the floss around it at the point where you'd like to slice. Cross the ends of the floss and pull them in opposite directions, allowing the floss to make a clean horizontal cut through the cheese. Repeat to create four disks of cream cheese. To assemble the torta, place one disk of cream cheese on a serving plate and spread with about two tablespoons of jalapeno jelly. Top with a second disk of cheese and continue layering, finishing with a garnish of jelly on the top. For best flavor, allow the torta to stand at room temperature for one hour before serving.
