Horizon Organic'sŪ Happy Cow Grazes in CowParade Denver 2006 to Benefit Local Community
BROOMFIELD, Colo. (July 26, 2006) -- Horizon OrganicŪ announces today that it is a proud Contributing Sponsor of the CowParade, which is coming to the streets and parks of Denver for three months beginning July 21. Local artist Tim Smith of Smith Restorations has created a rendition of the Horizon Organic Happy Cow to graze among the herd of approximately 100 custom cows designed by area artists that will be on display.
The CowParade is more than an exhibit of whimsically decorated cow statues. In fact, CowParade Denver 2006 benefits local non-profit organizations, including Denver Children's Museum, Denver Zoo, Cherry Creek Arts Festival and The Eagle Fund of the Denver Foundation. In addition, the event is expected to infuse $100,000 into the local arts community.
"Horizon Organic has been a part of the Boulder and Denver communities since we were founded here in 1991. Sponsoring a cow in the CowParade Denver is a great way for us to give back to our local supporters," said Caragh McLaughlin, marketing director for Horizon Organic. "We are pleased that the brand's Happy Cow mascot will be a part of this unique event while supporting local artists and non-profit organizations."
CowParade Denver will run until October 20, 2006. Herds will be displayed in downtown Denver, Stapleton and Cherry Creek. The Horizon Organic cow will be on display on the Southeast corner of 2nd and Josephine near Whole Foods in Cherry Creek.
"CowParade has raised more than $11 million for a variety of charitable organizations in more than 25 cities around the world," said Bruce Erley, head wrangler of the CowParade Denver. "Thanks to Horizon Organic and our other sponsors we are able to bring this fun and rewarding event to the streets of Denver benefiting dozens of our local charities."
On Friday, November 10, 2006, some of the fanciful life-sized, fiberglass cows will be sold at auction from the National Western Stock Show Stadium as well as online. Proceeds from the sale will benefit local non-profits, including Denver Children's Museum, Denver Zoo, Cherry Creek Arts Festival and The Eagle Fund of the Denver Foundation.
