Brands Recognized for Commitment to Renewable Energy
AUSTIN, TX,October 27, 2005 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Silk® Soymilk and Horizon Organic® for their commitment to, and ongoing promotion of, renewable energy. Combined, Silk® Soymilk and Horizon Organic® are now ranked 13th on the EPA's list of Top 25 Partners in its Green Power Partnership Program.
The 2005 Green Power Partner of the Year awards were presented at the annual Green Power Leadership Awards banquet held in Austin, Texas, in conjunction with the National Green Power Marketing Conference. The awards ceremony, sponsored by the EPA, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS), recognizes outstanding commitments and achievements by individuals, brands, companies and organizations in the green power marketplace.
"In addition to purchasing green tags, Silk® Soymilk and Horizon Organic® promote the use green power on product packaging and online," said Kurt Johnson, Director of the EPA's Green Power Partnership. "Taking the extra step to promote the benefits of green power is something we hope more companies and brands will emulate."
"Silk® Soymilk and Horizon Organic® are honored to be recognized for their commitment to renewable energy," said Mike Keown, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Research & Development for WhiteWave Foods. "Their commitment to proving sustainable business practices work is part of the mission of WhiteWave Foods, the brands' parent division. We believe what we do today impacts how we live tomorrow."
